Sony's PSP contains state of the art technic, and was seen as the DS-killer after its announcement. Some saw Nintendo in decline already, but that has not happened. The PSP sells okay, has great technology and impressive visuals, but too many loveless PS2 conversions, a UMD concept that was a flop, strange multimedia ideas and simply too less exciting exclusive and fresh titles to really compete with the DS.
